There are a number of services open to everyone to attend at St Peter’s Portesham this Holy Week; • Compline at 6.30pm on Tuesday, 3 April.

• Meditation between 1 and 2pm on Good Friday, 6 April.

• Easter Vigil at 8pm on Saturday, 7 April.

• Parish Communion at 1030am on Easter Day, 8 April.

There will also be a 7 am Dawn Service at St Bartholomew’s Chapel, Corton on Easter Day.

Key Stage 2 children from Portesham Primary School have been preparing an Easter Story booklet in comic strip form which will be on display at St Peter’s and indeed at the other churches in the Benefice; St Nicholas’, Abbotsbury and St Peter’s, Langton Herring.

Do take a moment to have a look if you are visiting one of the churches.

Portesham School will be hosting a family Summer Bingo evening on Friday, 13 April. Doors open at 6pm for a 6.30pm start with many exciting hampers and prizes to be won. Refreshments will be available and a raffle will also be held during the evening.

Any donations for prizes gratefully received at the school office.

THE Walking Group will be setting off from Winters Close at 10am on Thursday 5 April for a four mile walk from Powerstock with an optional pub lunch. For those who prefer a shorter, flatter walk to Abbotsbury the meeting time and place will be the same. Everyone welcome.

SATURDAY, 14 April will be a busy morning in Portesham with the WI holding their cake stall on the lawn of the King’s Arms pub and the village cafe being hosted by the Portesham Short Mat Bowling Club at the village hall beginning at the usual time of 10am. All the usual goodies on offer.

RBL Women’s Section will have their next meeting on Monday, 16 April at 7.30pm in the village hall when Graeme Gemmill will speak on “Coast Watch”. RBL members are also invited.

THE first trip of the season for the Diamond Club will be to Sherborne Castle and garden centre on Tuesday, 17 April. The coach leaves Portesham at 1.05pm and will return at 5pm.

THE next meeting of the Chesil Bank Garden Club will be at 7.30pm at Portesham village hall on Tuesday, 24 April when Ian Davidson will give a talk on “Soft Fruits”.

Shortly afterwards, on Saturday, 5 May their Plant Sale will take place at Portesham village hall between 1030am and 1.30pm.
