THE SUN shone for the Dorset Knob Throwing and Frome Valley Food Festival in Cattistock over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Crowds flocked to the village to sample the delicious range of different foods or to take part in the various activities involving the famous Dorset Knob Biscuits, including Knob Throwing, Paint the Knob, Knob and Spoon Race, Splat the Knob, Knob Shooting, Knob Walking, Pin the Knob on the (Cerne) Giant and Eat as Many Knobs as you can in a Minute!

CATTISTOCK Lawn Tennis Club will be holding a coffee morning in the Savill Hall from 10.30am on Saturday, May 19.

There will be a ‘new to you’ stall, as well as cakes, spring plants, photographs, jewellery, greetings cards, bring and buy, raffle and refreshments.

SARAH (PCSO 5410), our local Police Community Support Officer, will be in the Fox and Hounds, Cattistock, from midday on Tuesday, May 15, if you would like to join her for a coffee and a chat.

THERE will be a plant sale and coffee morning at Frampton Village Hall on Saturday, May 19 starting at 10.30am.

Other stalls will include gifts, china/glass, bring and buy and tombola.

FROME St Quintin’s annual Parish Meeting takes place in Frome Farm Barn at 7pm on Monday, May 14.

Everyone from the village is invited to attend.

A WORLD War 2 Fashion Show takes place in Greenford School, Maiden Newton on Friday, May 24 at 7.30pm – a cavalcade of fashion through the 30’s and 40’s.

The event is being brought to the village by volunteers with a passion for this era.

FROME Valley History Society will be visiting Dean’s Court in Wimborne on Monday, May 21.

This is a large Georgian house with a very large garden on the banks of the River Allen.

Members should meet at 1.45 for a 2pm introductory talk. Please park in front of the house.

STRATTON Summer Fayre is fast approaching. There will be a public meeting at the village hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday, May 22 to discuss preparations and answer any queries you might have.

THE LADIES Thursday Group looks forward to welcoming Julie Musk of Roving Press in Frampton to their meeting in Stratton Village Hall at 7.30pm on Thursday, May 24.

Julie will be talking about ‘Lesser Known Weymouth’ and everyone is most welcome to come along.

THE NEXT Rampisham Pub Night will be on Saturday, May 26 and will have a traditional bangers & mash theme.

There is always a good atmosphere on these nights – and the discounted drink prices are an added bonus!

THE NEXT Evershot Village Coffee Morning will take place at Audrey’s home (34 Fore Street) from 11am on Monday, May 21. Everyone is most welcome.

EVERSHOT Country Fair takes place on Sunday, May 27 between 11am and 5pm.

There will be lots of rural crafts, locally sourced food and drink, children’s games, a bar, music and food, pets’ corner, gun dog agility, birds of prey and a variety of stalls to browse. There will also be trailer rides within Melbury Park.

Admission costs £2 for adults and is free for children. Parking is free.
