VILLAGE Fete: Don’t forget there is another village fete taking place this year, the season of craft stalls, tombolas, Pimms Tents and Afternoon Teas is not yet over!

Buckland Newton and The Gaggle of Geese are hosting this year’s event on Bank Holiday Monday, August 27, from 2pm.
Come and have fun during a good old fashioned fete with plenty of the usual entertainment:
Stalls selling plants, home produce, books, bric-a-brac, jewellery and much more.
A barbecue, Pimms Stall and lovely homemade cakes and lots of games for children and adults alike!
Entry is £ 1 for adults, children go free and there is a free car park.
The Gaggle of Geese pub bar is open all day and pub food available at the usual times.

CHARITY Poultry Auction: The next one of The Gaggle of Geese’s famous poultry auctions is coming up on Sunday, September 9.

 

The last one saw some unusual poultry and a lively crowd taking full advantage of the farmers market, craft stalls and car boot pitches!

DHCT CYCLE Ride: Don’t forget, this year’s cycle ride in aid of Dorset’s historic churches is approaching soon!

A team from the village and its surroundings regularly takes part, why not you?
The ride on Saturday, September 8 raises money for the trust and local churches and gives you a chance to prove your cycling fitness whilst admiring some lovely churches.
You may walk if you wish and perhaps someone can sponsor you?

CERNE ABBAS

 

WILLIAM Barnes, “The People’s Poet” will be the subject of the society’s next talk on Monday, September 27.
It will be led by Dr Alan Chedzoy.
Furthermore the society wishes to thank everyone who visited the Open Gardens- as the Historical Society is one of the funds benefactors this time.
Monies raised will help towards the geophysical survey of the site of the Old Abbey.

CRIBBAGE – would you like to play?
A friendly league is currently taking on new members, be assured of a warm welcome, whatever your ability.
The League plays Monday evenings, from September to March.

CERNE VALLEY

NEIGHBOURHOOD Plan: Local land owners have been invited to outline their ideas for any development on their land over the next twenty years and everyone is welcome to discuss these ideas at a forthcoming meeting.
This meeting will take place in Cerne Abbas Village Hall on Tuesday, September 11 at 2pm.
The results will be included in a draft plan, produced during the winter months.

CHARLTON DOWN

THREE Valleys Wildlife Group: Meetings of this still relatively new but already popular group recommence on Tuesday, September 18.
The meetings usually take place at Herrison Hall, the first one of the season will be led by Sarah Williams of the Dorset Wildlife Trust.
Sarah will talk on their river restoration project “Fighting Back the Aliens: Return of the Natives”.
The talks of the Three Valleys Wildlife Group are open to everyone, the above talk commences at 7:30pm.

SYDLING ST. NICHOLAS

SCOTTISH Dancing in Sydling is sadly coming to an end.
The organisers regret to announce that, due to falling numbers, the Scottish Dancing Group has now closed.
There are plans afoot to join up with the Charminster group, whose session commence again in September.
Dancing takes place every Tuesday at 7:30pm.
