Have you an idea for a group or activity that might prove popular and benefit the people on Littlemoor?

If you have then Big4Littlemoor are offering small grants to help set up taster sessions to see if your idea will work and hopefully continue successfully.

You can apply for funding for any activity or project on Littlemoor. The grants are to cover the following costs: The first ten weeks of venue hire, refreshment costs for these weeks, small incidental set up costs.

Grants will not cover salaried positions, pre-existing activities, fees for courses for individuals, ongoing building maintenance costs, website design and upkeep, building design (architecture) publicity events.

Applications will be assessed against these Big4Littlemoor themes; community life and interactions, health and well-being, environment, lifelong education, community safety.

It is important that your idea/project fulfills one of these criteria.

The current round of grant applications must be in by February 28th..

You may only make one application in this funding round.

Application forms can be obtained from Gill Paterson, Project Coordinator, on 07467 177989 or email gill60pat@gmail.com This looks like a fun event for all the family organised by Groundwork South and WPBC.

On Tuesday 17th February from 2pm onwards you are all invited to head up to the far end of the football pitch at Top Club in Louviers Road to help build planting beds so that we can grow our own food.

As an incentive to all volunteers there will be fun and games with pancakes! Make your own, take part in pancake flipping contests and races or simply just sit back and eat one or two!

Pancakes will be supplied by Tony Gibbons from The Friendly Food Club.

It’s a free event and all ages are invited, no experience necessary, but those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

For further information please contact Toni Powell, Groundwork South, on 07889 756166 or email toni.powell@groundwork.org.uk

As part of the Big4Littlemoor plan to improve the lives of those who suffer from dementia, a pilot scheme of a series of Memory Cafes will soon be trialed.

The Memory Cafes provide activities and projects under qualified supervision and are aimed at helping dementia sufferers cope with the difficulties that face them and retain their independence for as long as possible. In order that we can assess the numbers wanting to take part anyone who wishes to join should express their interest by calling the library on 01305 812350.

There’s a Fantastic Fun Quiz for 9-10 year olds at the library on Thursday 19th at 10.30am. Prizes for the winners are being donated by the Co-Op.

Pre-school children can look forward to songs, stories and fun activities at the library every Tuesday morning from 11.15.
