• ONE Voice, Littlemoor’s choir had a very successful concert back in November.

Now they are set to repeat their success on Sunday in a carol concert at Littlemoor Community Hall.

The 16 strong choir led by Grazina Ellis will be accompanied by a brass quintet and local guest singers Ruth and Robert Eshelby.

After her success as choir leader Grazina is hoping to promote music within the youth of Littlemoor and plans to teach the basics of singing, keyboards and drumming with Weymouth College students giving assistance.

At present she is looking at after school lessons or possibly Saturday mornings . Anyone interested should get in contact with Grazina on 815531.

We know the youngsters in the area have loads of talent and who knows, this could be the first step to stardom! .

• THE Littlemoor Community Action Group has been given a licence to show films at the community hall but cannot proceed with this idea until the LCAG gets more helpers.

Chairman Malcolm Beeson said it had been a long and complicated business getting the licences and equipment but now the whole scheme could be shelved because of lack of willing helpers. He is looking for more volunteers to help with manning the projector, setting out seating and possibly catering. so if anyone fancies lending a hand give him a call on 832572.

• WEYMOUTH and Portland environmental health officer told a well attended meeting of current concern over litter and dog fouling in the area.

To combat this, starting in January, a new zero tolerance approach will be in force for offenders.

An on the spot fine of £50 will be handed out to anyone allowing their dogs to foul the pavements or for dropping litter.

Community police and council officers will be patrolling the area on the look out for offenders and not just during the day, the environmental health officer said.

Meanwhile we could all do our bit by picking up any litter we see lying around and pop it in a bin.

Councillor Mark Tewkesbury is still awaiting a signed agreement from Adshel to provide replacement bus shelters in and around Littlemoor.

He said that there is a possibility that Weymouth and Portland Housing will fund the new shelter opposite Top Club in Louviers Road.

Mark closed the meeting by asking everyone not to be afraid to report any nuisance or vandalism, if we all keep vigilant we can maintain Littlemoor’s ever improving reputation as somewhere pleasant to live.

The meeting closed with festive food and drink. The next PACT meeting is on February 4th at 7.30pm in Bincombe Court.

• ELDERLY and disabled people who would like to use the library but can’t manage to get there need our help, says Maria Jacobson, the WRVS co-ordinator for The Home Library Service.

This service is essential for those unfortunate folk who are housebound but we are in need of volunteers to deliver books.

Anyone with a couple of hours to spare each week could make a great difference to someone’s life by simply delivering books and talking books to those who need them.

• WHILST on the subject of the library several people have complained that they have turned up only to find that it was shut. In the current cold weather, they were not amused.

Unfortunately the new, revised opening times haven’t been put in the main part of this paper yet so here they are in brief.

Mon, closed, Tues, 9.30 to 1pm- 2pm to 5.pm, Weds 2pm to 5pm, Thurs 2pm to 6.30 Fri 2pm to 5pm, Sat 9.30 to 12.30.
