The newly elected Littlemoor Action Group Committee haven’t let the grass grow under their feet.
Fresh ideas and enthusiasm have put the Community centre back on the map.
In the recent past the centre’s use had fallen to the point where it was becoming a financial burden to keep going.
But now, thanks to the new committee, things are looking up and bookings stretch into the new year.
On Saturday 19th December a Christmas party for kids from 1 to 8 years of age is being held.
It will run from 3pm til 6pm and tickets are a very reasonable £3 each which will include a buffet, refreshments and a present from old Father Christmas himself in his grotto.
Parents are welcome to stay with their children and there will be tea and coffee on offer for them if they need it.
A photographer will be available to take pictures of the children with Father Christmas.
If parents would like a copy of these there will be a charge of £3 for each photo.
Tickets for this great seasonal event can be booked with Tracey Godsell on 01305 816940.
Other events planned for 2010 are an over 50’s disco and an X Factor contest.
The disco will be held on Saturday 6th February and tickets will cost £5 which includes a basket meal but you need to bring your own bottle.
This event will include music from the 50’s, 60’s 70’s and 80’s but you don’t necessarily have to be over 50 to go, if you like the music of those particular eras, then this is for you.
And if you still have those old flares, tank tops, mini skirts and glitter from those times then this is your chance to show them off, (if you don’t mind owning up to wearing them!).
This is definitely the event where ladies can dance round their handbags.
To book tickets, contact Gill Paterson on 01305 835383.
Littlemoor’s own X Factor contest will be open to three age groups, 8 to 14, 15 to 21 and over 21‘s.
Entry forms are available from some Littlemoor shops, the community hall or Gill Paterson on 01305 835383.
Sadly bands cannot take part as there are too many difficulties involved in setting up their individual equipment.
The judging panel will include professionals from the music industry and their decision will be final.
I will let you know the date for this event as soon as I get it, meanwhile get practising!
From 2.30 til 5.30pm you’re all invited to drop in and see how much the library has changed since it’s opening , especially of you were one of the children from Littlemoor County Primary school who helped create the mural when the library opened in 1990.
Go along and try out the new self service points, online resources, computers with internet access, books, DVD’s and much more.
There will also be a storytime between 3.30 and 4.30 for the children (and adults too if you want to join in!) For more details ring 01305 812350
