Local history talks at Littlemoor library

5:36pm Tuesday 9th February 2010

It was standing room only at Littlemoor library when Maureen Attwooll gave an interesting and comprehensive talk on George III and his association with Weymouth.

Illustrated by a slide show Maureen kept her audience rapt with the history of Weymouth’s attraction for ‘Mad King George.’ Maureen is a renowned local historian and has written many books on Weymouth’s past and has also been involved with making informative films about the town.

The free presentation included coffee and biscuits.

Hopefully she’ll make a return visit in the near future to tell us more about our past history.

The library is the place to take them on Wednesday (17th) afternoon between 2.30 and 3.30.

A half term craft and story session is being held there and includes activities like making a mobile, a picture hunt, colouring sheets and a fun story time for the under 7’s.

No need to book, just turn up.

For further information please call the library on 812350 or go to www.dorsetforyou.com/libraries.

Members of the Littlemoor Community Action Group will be at the hall on Friday 19th from 7.30pm to chat to residents about any ideas they might have for similar events.

So if you have any thoughts on what you’d like to see going on at the hall do go along with your ideas and suggestions.

Refreshments will be available.
