4:13pm Monday 5th December 2011 in Community
Christmas in Littlemoor this year will be brighter thanks to Trevor Martin who has spent weeks working across three back gardens behind 30 Rockhampton Close to bring some festive cheer and put a smile on our faces.
Beneath hundreds, if not thousands, of glittering lights he has laid out a nativity scene, a working model railway, a miniature village, a puppet theatre, an illuminated waterfall, a tableaux of snow white and the seven dwarves and lots more.
It’s a veritable winter wonderland and one the kids would love to go and see.
Although Trevor is not charging to go along and have a look he hopes people will be kind enough to drop a few pennies in the donation boxes scattered around.
All proceeds will go to the Weymouth Parkinson’s Society.
Trevor, who is a Parkinson sufferer himself said he wanted to do this to bring the community together to enjoy the spirit of the festivities.
The gardens will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 3pm and 7pm and you can find them just behind the Co-Op.
Just take the footpath up the hill and you will see the entrance on the left.
Please park your car in the shopping precinct car park rather than try to find a space in Rockhampton Close.
If you want to give the kids something a little less ‘ordinary’ this Christmas why not give them a gift that will last a lifetime and cost nothing?
It’s simple, get them a library ticket! The Dorset Library Services are giving gift cards to new members this December.
A ticket will give your child access to a World of free books, cheap dvd’s and cd’s for hire plus numerous events and activities for them to join in.
A reminder that the celebrations and festivities will continue throughout this month at the community hall.
On Friday 16th its eyes down for the Christmas prize bingo. Doors open at 7pm, first game starts at 8pm.
This years childrens’ party will be held on Sunday 18th between 4pm and 7pm. and for those a little older there will be a party on Friday 23rd from 8pm until midnight.
Check out the notice boards (there’s one by the bus stop in Louviers Road opposite Top Club and one at the Co-Op) for more details.
