Milborne St Andrew THERE’S much excitement at the moment about the fact that the village hall has reached the finals of The People’s Millions TV contest for a share of the Big Lottery Fund money.

Five groups out of eight in the ITV Meridian South region will win awards of up to £50,000 each for their community projects.

The regional contest goes live in the week of November 24 to 28, with two good cause groups battling it out each night on the evening regional news and at the end of the week four projects will have won a slice of £5 million of lottery good cause cash.

The best runner-up that chalks up the most phone votes will also win a grant to be the fifth winner, announced on Friday, November 28.

Milborne St Andrew’s MADCAP scheme will be going up against Town Farm Play Park project from Hailsham, East Sussex on Wednesday, November 26.

The main element of the MADCAP project is a small extension to the village hall building, linked to the existing two rooms and providing:

* Extra storage for the tables, chairs, portable staging

* A child safe area so that during drama productions children are not in the same changing room as adults

* Extensive audio/visual stage equipment, including a hearing loop

* An outside multigym or ‘Fitpoint’ providing free keep fit facilities

* A wildflower meadow and theatre with a picnic area.
