Milborne St Andrew

THE Friends of Milborne St Andrews First School performed a minor miracle when they produced a wonderful Christmas dinner for all the children, teachers and governors at the school.

The organisation was superb, with the whole event running like clockwork and the dinner was superb, even the helpers were catered for!

The children had a wonderful time and Father Christmas whizzed in for a quick visit to them all after lunch.

I am told this incredible feat of culinary excellence happens every Christmas, so a very big well done and thank you to all those helpers who slaved over hot stoves, peeled spuds, chopped veg, served the dinner and even washed up and put it all away afterwards.

  • HURRY, hurry, hurry!

The pantomime tickets are already on sale and are going like the proverbial hot cakes!

The Milborne Players are putting on Aladdin this year – a traditional family pantomime which boasts a sound story of good triumphing over evil.

Widow Twankey has a full team of helpers in her laundry including a very washey Wishee Washee and two dizzy laundry maids who are always up to their elbows in something or other!

Panto has to have a baddie and Abanazar is one of the best baddies to hate to date. The cast wouldn’t be complete without a couple of immortals, namely the Genie of the Lamp and the Slave of the Ring, who just keeps getting called on to help at the most inconvenient moments and of course there has to be a hero, Aladdin himself.

He just wants to follow his dreams, get rich quick and marry his true love.

It’s an everyday tale of, well; thrills, spills and laundry and it’s going to be a must see!

Performances at 7.30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 5, 6 and 7, with a matinee at 2.30pm on the Saturday, at Milborne St Andrew Village Hall.

Tickets can be booked by calling Sid Coe on 01258 837453, or can be purchased from the shop.
