DEWLISH

WITH the dry weather in early November, Dewlish Cricket Club put on another of their spectacular firework displays. This years profit totalled £800, and all the money will be put back into running the club.

This event could not have been held without the support and generosity of Mr & Mrs A Booth for the use of the field where this display was held. Also grateful thanks to the many others who gave up their weekend to help set up the equipment and then clear it all down afterwards, plus thanks to those who helped on the night.

And of course a big thank you to everyone who came along on the night to enjoy the show and support this great annual event.

* TO celebrate the end of a successful and enjoyable 2009, Dewlish Cricket Club recently held their end of Season dinner.

Awards were made for player performances and they were as follows: Evening League Batsman Trophy went to Steve Clifford. Steve also had the highest score this season against Martinstown.

Evening League Bowler’s Trophy with a total of 23 wickets, 6 of those in 4 overs against Cerne Valley, went to Justin Miller.

Young Player of the Year Trophy went to Lewis Chutter.

As wicket keeper Lewis took a total of 18 catches and 9 stumpings.

Lewis’s batting performance was also talented this year.

For the Sunday League he came second in the total runs with a total of 252 with 3 not outs and this year he scored his first 50 against Symene.

Sunday League Batsman of the Year award to Quenton Miller who scored 731 runs.

High highest score was 102 against Winton Sports at home.

Sunday League Bowler’s Trophy with a total of 29 wickets, 13 maidens with an average of 14.3 went to the captain, Simon Ross.

Best Performance Trophy went to Alex Chutter.

He has shown great improvement and leadership this year and has worked hard in all aspects of the game.

While playing Lychett in August, Dewlish were chasing 176 runs.

Quenton Miller had been bowled, Lewis Chutter had been bowled and Alex partnered up with Paul Kellaway to try and recover the game.

He scored his first 50 for Dewlish and went on to score 61 runs.

By no fault of his own he was run out, but Dewlish went on to win the match.

The Clubman Trophy went to Steve Hillier for all his behind the scenes hard work and support he has given to the team this year.

The Duck Trophy – ah yes, those players know who they are but will remain nameless … for the time being!

A big thank you was made to all the members their efforts this year.

It has been a tremendous year for the club and they are now looking forward to the 2010 season.
