THERE was huge excitement on the afternoon of Thursday, 11th November at Milborne St Andrew First School.

Years 1 and 2 (Foxes and Rabbits classes) are studying Aliens this half term and amazingly enough they were lucky enough to have some extra terrestrial activity within the school grounds!

It all started when the children noticed a man wearing protective clothing taping off an area of the playing field.

Mrs Andrews and Mrs Hammond said their classes could go and see what was happening.

When they got there they found the man had put police tape around four round burn marks on the ground and he asked some of the children to help him investigate the marks. Everyone started to look around for clues and a big egg was found!

Jessica Connolly (aged 6) of Rabbits class wrote the following account:- “The man picked the egg up and Mrs Hammond got a box, it had two boxes inside with tissue paper and a note, which had funny writing.

The man put the egg in the box.

Everybody carried on searching for another egg. We found another egg which was put into the box too.

Nobody knew what the marks were, what the eggs were or what the writing meant!

The man took the tape down and we said goodbye.

Mrs Hammond carried the eggs into her class and put them away safely.”

Everyone agreed it must have been a spaceship which landed the night before and that the mysterious eggs must be from aliens!

How lucky the children were to be involved in all this, especially as they are currently covering Aliens as their topic.

I wonder what strange adventures they will have next!

Meanwhile, the eggs have been put safely away and everyone is waiting eagerly to see if they hatch into something egg-citing….

THE next event occurring at Milborne First School will be the Christmas Fayre, run by the Friends of School.

Perhaps not quite so dramatic as Alien visitors but there should be a visit from Father Christmas as well to get everyone into the Christmas spirit! It will start at 3pm on Wednesday 1st December with stalls, games and refreshments so come along and join in the fun.
