Sorry, I got it wrong!

FIRST, an apology. I must have been looking at the wrong calendar when I forecast this month’s Arts and Craft Exhibition as being on Sunday, October 16. The date was right but it is, of course, a Saturday.

Hopefully this will not deter anyone from coming along to what should be a great display of work by local artists and craftspeople - not to mention a great opportunity to pick up some really distinctive pieces in advance of the Christmas rush. The event runs from 10am to 4pm in Osmington Village Hall on Saturday, October 16, and is well worth a visit.

If you would like to be an exhibitor, or have any other queries, contact Naomi Vincent on 07877 543782, or e-mail naomivincent@rocketmail.com.

  • NEXT the bad news. Because of unforeseen problems, the Sunset Café Stompers have had to cancel their jazz evening in the village hall on 9 October. This will be a great disappointment to their many fans in the village who were looking forward to a great evening’s entertainment. However, we are assured that they will be back next March with their usual spirited performance.
  • BUT all is not lost. On the very next day, the Osmington Society have scheduled their Ten! Ten! Ten! event - an active hunt to test and improve how well you know Osmington. Join the searchers on Sunday, October 10 2010, starting at 10 to 11 at the White House, Church Lane for an aperitif and to collect your 10 quiz questions on Osmington facts and fiction! Walk around Osmington collecting your answers, finish up at the Smugglers Inn At 10 to one!

for a delicious Roast Beef Lunch (or Vegetarian Lasagne option) with yummy puddings and a glass of wine or beer. Regrettably, if you are attending the service at St. Osmund’s you will miss out on the aperitif, but there will still be time to join in with the hunt and the lunch.

(Those who would rather not walk all the way can still join in the Quiz and drive to the pub!) Tickets are, of course, £10 and are available from: Jane, 835777; Teresa, 833830; Liz, 836401 or any Os Soc committee Member.

  • THE Murder Mystery Dinner which had been planned by the Osmington Society for 30 October has now been postponed to Spring 2011 because of this year’s very full calendar of events.
