Carolling in the Park took place on Tuesday and Wednesday last week. It may have been a bit cold and there may have been some windy old corners, but thank you to everyone who lifted a curtain, opened a window or door, and even those who turned their music/TV‘s down so they could listen to our attempts to spread Christmas Cheer and goodwill. Raising money was not a priority, however saying that we did raise £21.00 for 2 hours singing, which will be heading to the Mayors chosen charity.
If you missed out on either taking part or listening to our glorious voices and, dare I say it, even a few harmonies, then don’t panic as it happens every year. There was a recorder playing gallantly through frozen fingers, but I think next year it would be nice to have a little extra percussion as well, so get out your tambourines/triangles etc and get practicing. That could be just the thing to do on a wet and cold winters afternoon. It was a lovely bonding community event and I certainly left feeling a warm glow inside, (which may have had something to do with the mulled wine and mince pies at the end of Wednesday evening). Thank you to everyone who gave, and also thanks to those who supplied us with the odd chocolate or two as we did our rounds. Although, in retrospect, I did wonder if that was merely a way of shutting us up!! Surely Not – but there were a large amount of toffees on offer! Well done to everyone who sang their little hearts out!

Finally, the Centre Volunteers and The Weymouth Waterside Forum would like to wish everyone in the Community a Safe and Happy Christmas. Could we all keep an eye on our neighbours, as the weather gets colder and make sure that everyone is not feeling alone or neglected. The Centre will be back to normal in the New Year and would ask that should you be considering making a New Years Resolution, perhaps you might volunteer your services at the Community Centre. Everyone has skills or a service that can be very useful to others, and so why not make 2013 the year of sharing.
