Only one Great Night of Gladiatorial Fun!

Wannabe Gladiators turned up to try their hand at the  event which started back in in the 1990's and again in 2008 on the ever popular Gladiator TV show. With the inflatable arena and suitable safety equipment it meant there was a whole heap of fun with minimal risk. True to the original game, there was podiums for the novice gladiators to balance on (very tricky when they move as well) whilst avoiding the opponents pugil stick yet still attempting to knock them off their podium.

It seems a bad idea never dies. Who knows, in another 10 years time we may see some of the participants of this fun night taking part in a revamped version of the TV show. And this was definitely one activity which encouraged the Park Youth to develop a competitive streak in a safe and secure environment.

Have you a child in school years 6-9? Is he or she lost for something to do on a Tuesday night. Why not offer them the chance to take part in PDY and build a  strong youth community.

The Park Community Centre was recently awarded £840.00 for the Tuesday Evening Youth Club (PDY) from Co-operative Community Fund .  £299.00 of this has now been used to provide a 5th! Table Tennis table  at the  Community Centre,  which has been sited in the upper floor where the PDY (Park District Youth) takes place.   With so much equipment available for all to practice on, surely it is not too much to hope that a  "world name" will develop  from within our little friendly community! Practice makes perfect and your never too young to start, although for the PDY nights there is a lower and upper age range of school years 6 to 9.
If you would like further details on what is available please contact the youth leader Antonia Richardson on 07917 436194.
