The Park District Newsletter has gone Missing In Action, so until such time as it rematerializes through our letter boxes in the manner of Dr Who and the Tardis, here is the current state of play at the Centre!!

Its been a long hot August and many of our activities took a well earned break, however now the school term has begun, so many of the activities at the centre have also restarted this week. With the added bonus that you don’t need to go out and buy a uniform, pencils or a trigonometry set!

Monday
Stretch, Breath and Relax - exercise class - 0945 to 11.15
The Waterside Singers – The Resident Choir of the Park Community Centre starts to exercise their vocal muscles every Monday from 2.15 to 3.30 . They are a happy friendly group who would love extra voices to come along and blend with them
Line dancing - 7.00 to 8.30, at a pace to suit every one, don’t be concerned that you might get lost or confuse your left foot from the right

Tuesday
Short mat bowls - 10.00 to 12.00
Fit as a Fiddle - exercise class - 12.00 to 2.00 - starts 10 September
Short mat bowls - 7.00 to 9.00
Park District Youth club - 6.30 to 8.30 - starts 10 September

Wednesday
Over 50s friendship club - 2.30 to 4.30 - starts 11 September, there is always a good variety of events so please do come along and find out more. To take part you only need to be over 50!
Table tennis club - 7.00 to 8.30

Thursday
Art class - 9.45 to 11.45
Table tennis club - 12.00 to 2.00
Whist drive club - 2.30 to 5.00

Community Quiz results
Saturday August 31st saw another hugely successful community quiz. 60 residents turned up to compete in 11 teams with a new seating format and PA system, which worked extremely well. Huge thanks to all who helped with the event and especially to John for organising it and for Carol who was our quiz mistress.
The 11 teams provided a very close contest with a tie for the runners up prize once again!
The prizes were eventually awarded as follows "Ping Pong players" - winners, with "Bowlers" and "Back Row"- tied runner ups and "Gooseberry Tarts"- mystery prize.

Saturday July 20th , 58 residents turned up for the Quiz night, this time Cynthia was the quiz mistress,  dealing out a fine selection of brain teasers. The eleven teams provided a very close contest with only 3 points separating the top 3 teams. The prizes were awarded to "Demob Happy" - winners, "Bowlers plus 2"- runners up and "Odds and Sods"- mystery prize.

Saturday saw another hugely successful community quiz .
A record 74 residents turn up causing a last minute panic to find extra tables and chairs and food!! This time the quiz master was Tony.
A huge thanks to all who helped with the event and especially to John for organising it and for Tony who was our quiz master. The 14 teams provided a very close contest with a tie for the runners up prize. The prizes were eventually allocated as follows  "5 wise monkeys" - winners, "Halifax" and "Chelmsford Charmers"- tied runner ups and "Nightingales"- mystery prize.
