Up and coming events in the Park district

THE Forum is pleased that the Card Making Club has restarted.

Everyone is welcome to come along and make some special cards for those special occasions on Thursday afternoons at 2.30pm.

LEAVE the TV behind, forget the computer games and come and play some old fashioned games.

Dominoes, bagatelle, chess, draughts, table tennis – yes, you have to actually move around the table!

The great news is it’s all free and it happens on a Friday night at the Park Community Centre at 7pm.

Please kids, bring mum and dad along, you might just be surprised!

IT was with a little apprehension that we waited for the first taster session of ‘Can’t Sing… neither can we’ last Monday.

It was wonderful to see so many people, nearly thirty, who joined our excellent teacher, Joanna in some light-hearted singing.

After a short introduction about the project we talked about what sort of songs we wanted to rehearse, and finished up singing Mamma Mia, which didn’t sound too bad after just an hour.

This group will be meeting every Monday afternoon at 2pm and anyone is welcome to join.

Then in the evening we did it all again with a different group, about twenty in all, and again Joanna got us all laughing and singing.

The next evening session will be on Monday, March 29 at 7pm, we will then sort out regular sessions.

At the end of the project we hope to give a free concert to all the residents of the Park Area.

The group has already got two bookings, all we have to do now is learn to sing!

“Can’t Sing…neither can we” is supported by The Big Lottery Fund

JUST a reminder that we offer FREE Internet access.

The centre opening hours is Monday to Thursday, 10am-12pm, and at other times when activities are taking place.

If you want to find out how to do more with your computer, we can offer some lessons on a Thursday morning, please telephone 839579 and leave a message to book.

THE Police are now attending the Park community Centre on a Thursday,10am-11am, for you to come and have a chat with them about the area.

If you want to report anything in confidence there are cards to fill out, which you then put in the post box provided.

AS you know the Forum is completely self-funding, no grants for our running costs and we are very grateful to the few people help us raise funds.

To this end we are holding an evening with Barry Paull as Elvis at the No 6 Bar, Kings Street on Thursday, March 18 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available from the Park Community Centre, 839579 or 784633 only £3 for a great night out.

Our thanks go to Pete for the use of the Venue.

AS so much is happening at the centre we could do with some help.

If you are interested and have some time to spare please contact us on 839579.

COMING SOON: Talks are on going about restarting the Youth Club in April on Tuesday evenings.

We will announce details as soon as they are finalised.

Perhaps you could help run the tuck shop, or teach your skills to the youngsters?

THE Forum is pleased that they have now obtained the funding for the dance mats.

As soon as the mats arrive we will arrange the sessions and then residents can enjoy keeping fit in a fun way.

We hope to have a grand launch morning, so watch this space for further details.
