THE Forum are very pleased after waiting two years to obtain the funding to announce that the Dance Mats sessions will be starting on Friday, July 16, and then July 23, and July 30 (with a short break in the summer) as follows:
Mothers and toddlers (there will be a crèche), 10am-11am.
Over 18’s, youngsters and the elderly or not so old (no children please at this session) 2pm-3.30pm.
As things get going we hope to organise further sessions in the evenings, Saturday mornings, and during the school holidays. Some of these will have a small charge to cover the costs of staffing them. The more help we can get the more sessions we can run.
All these sessions are FREE that’s right FREE and open to anybody, there is no need to book, but we do expect the sessions to be busy, so there might be a wait and we might have to put in a booking system at a later stage. We have an instructor and drinks etc will be available for a small cost.
If anyone would like to help please contact 839579.
DO not forget the Community quiz on Saturday, July 17.
Come along as a team of four or on your own as we can make up teams on the night. Entry is £3.50, which includes refreshments, and you are welcome to bring your own drinks.
There is a prize of £20 for the winning team.
WE have the book and tombola stall at Greenhill on Sunday July 18.
While we are there we will be cleaning and repairing the mosaic. It is three years now since we spent weeks during the summer of 2007 getting help from many people young and old. If you were one of these do come and give us a hand to clean it up and admire your handy work.
WHAT a wonderful morning we had on Sunday, July 4.
The Waterside Singers performed at the 80th Birthday celebrations of the Weymouth Town Bridge.
I was really proud that after only 16 weeks we could do so well, especially as we started out as a group called “Can’t Sing….neither can we”. That was so true most of us had never sung in a group and certainly not in public before. It just goes to show what can be done working as a community together.
Our thanks to Johanna Wolff, our hard working musical director and, of course, all the wonderful singers.
We all went back to the Harbourmaster’s Office for tea and cake, which rounded off the morning. We also took part in the competition to guess the number of bridge lifts in the last ten years, I wonder how close I am to the correct number?
Please contact 839579 if you want to join or book the group.
Our next engagement is at The Lawns later in the month, and we are receiving more requests all the time.
