THE VILLAGE CAFÉ held by the Chesil Bank Pre-School on the last Saturday of January was packed with villagers of every age group.
The toddlers were kept busy on the play dough table while the older children were huddled round watching the face painting and hoping to be next to have their face painted too, with the adults queuing for tickets for the chance to win one of the many tombola and raffle prizes.
The now extensive library was constantly being browsed through with our avid readers and had a considerable turn over as did the children’s section.
The tables out for refreshments were packed and for the first time there was the addition on the menu of full English or continental breakfast.
On hand for questions and information, or just a social chat was our Community Police Officer Sarah Pilcher with leaflets and handout gifts in connection with the Homewatch team some of whom were on duty to answer questions under the leadership of Anne Elwin, the Co-ordinator.
Also, of great interest to the children and very young, was a set of traffic lights and buttons to press for the them to “have a go” and learn the meaning and colours of the lights.
A very busy and interesting morning and once again has proved that the Village Café is now a very popular and local community meeting place held approximately every 2 weeks on a Saturday morning and villagers that have not yet attended one of these cafes are truly missing out on the social get together this event has become.
