ANOTHER annual barbecue outing, this time with Chesil Bank Garden Club to Island Garden Nursery, Upwey on Tuesday, 2 August.

Tickets are available to members at £8.50.

SATURDAY 6 August is going to be a busy day in Portesham!

Many local residents will know that lead was recently stolen from the roof of St Nicholas Church in Abbotsbury. St Peter’s church Portesham is holding a coffee morning at the village hall to help raise funds to pay for this to be replaced.

Usual time of 10am – 12 noon with bacon butties, tea, coffee, cakes and pastries and a raffle and tombola on offer.

It would be lovely to see as many local residents (and those further afield!) from the benefice come and support this very worthwhile cause.

Later the same evening, Ed Hintze, international and television entertainer, will be performing his one man show at Portesham village hall beginning at 7.30pm.

Tickets costing £6 are available from Alan on 01305 871110 and proceeds are in aid of Portesham Methodist church funds.

PORTESHAM school enjoyed glorious weather for their recent summer fayre, organised by POPS (Parents of Portesham School).

Children enjoyed a bouncy castle, cricket and balloon games, an obstacle course and throwing wet sponges at Mr Brown, one of their teachers!

There was a barbecue, teas and coffees, cakes, crafts, books, a raffle and tombola and many other activities including a bidding wall with some excellent lots.
