THERE will be lots of stalls to browse and buy from at this year’s POPS (Parents of Portesham School) Christmas village cafe which will be held at Portesham village hall on Saturday, 26 November from 10 am to 12 noon.

There will be gifts that the children have made in school, cakes, chocolate, jewellery, bags, toys and cosmetics and craft activities for children to make on the day. Mrs Prior will again be serving freshly prepared bacon rolls.

POPS will also be holding a “New to You” sale on Friday, 25 November from 2 to 3 pm in the school hall – a great chance to buy quality items at great prices. Refreshments will be served.

SUNDAY, 27 November sees St Peter’s church host their annual Crafty Christmas Tea Party beginning at 3pm, also at the village hall.

There will be craft stalls, games and quizzes, tombola and a mouth watering selection of “posh” cakes and cream teas will be served.

WELL done to Portesham Women’s Fellowship who made the final £180 needed from their Cream Tea afternoon to enable both Portesham churches to fund two complete ShelterBoxes – a tremendous achievement. I will post the numbers of the boxes in due course and then everyone will be able to see where they have been sent.

THE next Portesham Parish meeting will take place at the village hall at 7.30 pm on Tuesday, 15 November. Everyone welcome to come along.

CHESIL Scout Group will also be at the village hall holding their Jumble Sale on Saturday, 19 November starting at 2.30 pm. They would be grateful to accept any donations the evening before between 6 and 9 pm at the same venue.

THE village hall will again be busy at 7.30 pm on Tuesday, 22 November when Joy Wallis will be giving a talk to Chesil Bank Garden Club on Gardening for Wildlife.

RBL Abbotsbury and Portesham branch will be going Christmas shopping to Cardiff on Thursday, 24 November. There will also be an opportunity to visit Cardiff castle in the afternoon. Contact Des Baker on 01305 267617 to book.
