REMEMBRANCE Day saw the children from Portesham school and members of the local community take part in a special service of Remembrance at St Peter’s church.

There were hymns and readings from the children together with a specially written poem. At 11am everyone gathered at the War memorial where the children led the Act of Remembrance and placed a wreath that had been made at Shooting Stars, the church’s after school club.

Poppy seeds were then planted behind the memorial as a living reminder so hopefully we will see a lovely display there next Spring.

A REMINDER that there will be lots of stalls to browse and buy from at this year’s POPS (Parents of Portesham School) Christmas village cafe which will be held at Portesham village hall on Saturday, 26 November from 10 am to 12 noon.

There will be gifts that the children have made in school, cakes, chocolate, jewellery, bags, toys and cosmetics and craft activities for children to make on the day. Mrs Prior will again be serving freshly prepared bacon rolls.

POPS will also be holding a “New to You” table top sale on Friday, 25 November from 2 to 3 pm in the school hall – a great chance to buy quality items at great prices. Refreshments will be served.
