Four talented local artists are taking part in Artwey, the Weymouth & Portland Artists’ Open Studios event.

Tony Heathershaw, Sara Knight, Elizabeth Morris and Caroline Nairn are holding an exhibition of their work in the Wessex Waterworks Museum at Sutton Poyntz between Saturday 28 May and Monday 30 May inclusive, between 10.30am and 4.30pm each day.

Tony’s watercolours of landscapes, boats and harbour scenes are always greatly admired, and he will also have on display his sketch books and notes describing his methods of painting. These are a valuable insight into the mind of and artist at work.

Sara also uses water colour plus pen and wash to depict Dorset countryside. Elizabeth’s works are a response to events in the environment which capture her imagination via lino cuts, oils and mixed media painting. Caroline also features landscapes and seascapes, especially combining collage, printing and paint in mixed media.

The Waterworks Museum, in the heart of Sutton Poyntz, is a beautiful venue for such an exhibition, and complements the works on display, so it will be well worth a visit.

The Preston Village Market will be in the Church Rooms between 10am to 12.30pm on Saturday 4 June.

There will be the usual wide variety of stalls including local produce, plants, crafts and much more, so drop in to browse and enjoy a warm welcome. Refreshments will be available, so why not drop in to have a look at what is on display and enjoy a cup of tea with friends.

The St Andrews School Parent Teacher Association are organising a Summer Fayre Saturday 11 June between 1pm and 4pm.

There will be stalls of all sorts, a raffle and tombola, refreshments to make your mouth water and lots for the children – and adults - to do. The theme this year is the Queen’s Birthday, so expect lots of red, white and blue!

All the proceeds go towards providing facilities for the children at the school, so do drop in, have a good time and support the school all at the same time.

The Weymouth East Scouts and Guides based at the Scutt Hall will be organising their Beach Stall on Wednesday 22 June.

This is one of the major fund raising events which help to keep the Hall in good repair for the benefit of the youngsters. If you have any good quality items – no clothes, pleas, on this occasion - that you no longer need and that they could sell on the day, give Betty Hennessey a ring on 833614. They will be gratefully received.
