It was not only at the Wimbledon Tennis championships that the participants enjoyed strawberries and cream!
The members of the Preston Sequence Dance Club decided to take a (strawberry) leaf out of their book and enjoyed an evening of dancing to the music of Wally and Eileen Slade whilst members were provided with scones, jam and cream with seasonal strawberries, together with a glass of rose wine. The Sequence Dance Club meet every Thursday evening starting at 7.45 pm until 10.15 pm and welcome visitors and new members.
The Abbeyfield (Weymouth) Society is holding its Summer Fete at Macpherson House in Wyke Oliver on Saturday 23 July between 2pm and- 5pm.
There will be a variety of stalls plus teas and a barbecue to keep you refreshed. There will also be entertainment provided by the youngsters of WOW from 3pm. Entry costs just 50p and all proceeds are in aid of Residents Amenities Fund.
It’s definitely the time of year for enjoying alfresco eating, and the Sutton Poyntz Society are taking advantage of the (hopefully) good weather by holding their Cream Tea afternoon in the orchard behind the Mission Hall on Saturday, 30th July.
This very popular annual event will start at 3 pm. The cost is £2.50 per person – and very good value it is too – and should the weather turn inclement everyone will retire to the Hall itself.
This is a marvellous village event, not to be missed, and the chance to enjoy good company in an idyllic setting. See you there.
