Classic VWs visited Lodmoor Park and raised £1024.40 for RNLI.

The event, organised by the Dorset Spirit of Air Club was a huge success, with a massive turnout of VW Camper Vans, Beetles and other classic VW models, totalling nearly 1,000 vehicles, making an interesting display and attracting on-lookers of all ages.

THE Friends of Lodmoor Country Park are planning an ambitious project for a Green Gym, providing a facility for all age groups to enjoy exercising in superb surroundings at no cost!

At the recent LCP Friends open meeting the plans were explained and suggestions invited for the 2km course incorporating some fifteen pieces of equipment.

Much research has been carried out and the bid for £32,000 to fund the project is being submitted to the Lottery “Community Space” and anyone who wishes to make suggestions for the content of the course is invited to email their ideas to bbbbbridget@hotmail.com as soon as possible, as the bid is nearing completion.

Southill resident, Karen Croad is running in the London Marathon and raising funds for the British Heart Foundation.

She is running in memory of Steve Hobson, who died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 50, leaving his wife Hilary (who works with Karen) and their two sons.

There is still an opportunity for more sponsorship and Karen, who lives in Grays, Southill, has a web page: http://www.justgiving.com/karencroad or she can be contacted on 01305 771702.

She has several sponsorship forms currently circulating, so has no idea how much she has raised at this stage!

THE next Meeting Point Community Lunch is being held on Tuesday, May 4 from 12.30pm-1.45pm at St Aldhelm’s Church Hall.

The speaker will be Chris Carman from Dorset Community Action and representatives from voluntary and statutory caring groups are invited to share ideas, news of activities and partake in the lovely buffet supplied by Upper Crust Ridgeway Caterers.
