CHILDREN at Southill School have had great fun with their marvellous maths week.

This involved dressing up on Maths Fancy Dress Day, designing and making a maths game or puzzle for Challenge Day and constructing money spirals from 1p, 2p and 5p coins, totalling £119.

The Year Six children will decide which local charity will be given the money.

The children thoroughly enjoyed Marvellous Maths Week, developing their sense of fun and appreciation of mathematics.

FRIENDS of Southill School are still counting the proceeds from the recent Summer Fayre.

The weather was wonderful.

The action started with the 23rd Annual Fun Run. “Soaking the teacher” proved to be very popular with the pupils and the Friends thank all the parents, staff and volunteers, the Vikings and Jake the local PCSO.

A great time was had by all raising most useful extra funds for the school.

PUBLIC consultation on the proposals for development of the New Look site has registered keen interest.

The “drop-in” sessions featured plans and artists ‘ impressions, with representatives present to answer questions and provide information.

The plans include an hotel, a restaurant a supermarket and petrol station.

Prestigious New Look offices are incorporated, with small business units and the ambulance station remaining.

Issues raised by residents, such as the landscaping, the make-up of the “Gateway to Weymouth” and traffic considerations are being reported as a part of the submission of these proposals to the council this summer.

RESIDENTS and staff at The Lawns Care Home, Fernhill Avenue are looking forward to their Summer Fete at Fernhill Day Centre on Saturday, July 17, 11am-3pm, there will be stalls and refreshments.

Proceeds go to their amenities fund, which pays for the trips and treats that are enjoyed and much appreciated by the residents.
