This team comprised Harriet Blick, Olivia Critchell, Sammy Lightfoot, Daniel Miller, Harry Stuart and Jordan Hobbs.

Affpuddle

  • ANTHONY Braine reports for the parish council: Members learnt that the parish website at www.Briantspuddle.info would soon have a new front page. This would allow people to more easily see the range of information available through the site. The site has been recently updated generally and it was recognised that the site played a vital role in allowing access to useful information about the parish.

The parish plan was produced in 2004 following a period of lengthy consultation with residents. It gives a local perspective on important issues and provides information on any decision making process affecting the parish. At the parish council meeting, members received a presentation from Diane Bernard of Purbeck district council on how to update the plan. This process will take place over the next few months to ensure that the parish plan accurately reflects the needs and aims of the parish.

Dorset county council officers will be attending the February meeting of the parish council to hear the views of members on the current illegal travellers site at Sares Wood.

It is hoped that these officers will reveal what will be done to close this illegal site. As always residents are welcome to attend the meeting to express any concerns they may have on this issue.

There was a lengthy discussion on a wide range of road maintenance issues, including overgrown hedges, blocked drains and obscured road signs. The parish council is extremely frustrated that continual reports were being submitted to the county council on a number of problem areas yet little seemed to be done about it. The county councillor, Mrs Alex Brenton, asked for a list of specific problems so that she can chase relevant departments within County Hall. Taking part in the proposed lengthsman scheme was discussed but members felt that it was too costly for a parish of this size.

Full minutes of the meeting and agendas will be on the parish website when completed and the next meeting of the parish council will be on Wednesday, February 10 at 7pm.
