Beavers have continued to work towards their Animal Friend, Imagination and Experiment Badges over the last month.
We have enjoyed making sweets and gift baskets for Valentine's day.
A number of hardy scouts and their leaders have just completed our first camp of the year, cold camp at Bowling Green Wood and what a fantastic weekend we had!
There are a lot of young, new scouts and this camp was aimed at teaching them some of the basic camp skills The older scouts got the opportunity to brush up on their skills and then help the younger ones. .
They covered axing and sawing, camp gadgets, camp layout, how to build and light a safe fire and then cook a meal on it On top of this there was time for games, exploring the local woodland and making Mothers’ Day cards and presents. .
The Scouts have also been to Warmwell and enjoyed a session of skiing.
One of our former scouts and currently a young leader with the cub section, has just found out that she has passed the selection process and will be joining the UK contingent as a member of the International Service team at the next World Scout Jamboree in Sweden in 2011.
Well done, Nikki
.
On Saturday, May 1, the project team will be having a cake and cookie sale to raise funds for this year’s trip to Belgium and France in November.
This event will take place in the former Central Stores shop in West Street, Bere Regis. Please come along and purchase some home made goodies and help us on our way.
The Tesco and Sainsburys vouchers are starting to roll in and we’re really hoping to exceed last year’s totals and get more great equipment
Please help us again this year by collecting these vouchers for us.
If you don’t know any beavers, cubs or scouts, please call one number below, and we will arrange collection with you.
Bet and her wonderful team continue to organise fortnightly bingo at the scout hut.

Many of you will be aware that an application has been lodged with Purbeck District Council for the installation of a four turbine wind farm at East Stoke.
This was discussed at some length by the parish council who voted six to two with one abstention to oppose the application on the grounds of the close proximity to Buddens scout camp and the adverse environmental impact caused by visual intrusion, noise and potential harm to wildlife and habitat.
It was felt that these outweighed the undoubted benefits of sustainable energy generation. We are informed by our district councillor that this is likely to come before a special planning board in Wareham some time in May.
Steve Dring – the planning policy manager at Purbeck district council -- gave an informative and interesting presentation on housing within Bere Regis.
As a parish council we have agreed in principle to some modest proposals for houses within Bere Regis over the next 20 years.
We reviewed the options open to us and we will be discussing these in detail at our next meeting on Thursday, April 9 which will be an open consultation meeting where we hope as many members of the public as possible would be able to come along and give us your views so that we can review the proposals in the light of this.
I would emphasise that there will be further opportunities for people to comment after this later on in the year but that this will direct the next stage of the consultation process which will result in a pamphlet being issued to every household in Purbeck with the views of the various town and parish councils.
Please put April 9 in your diary
A Parish Councillor will be joining Peter Wharf. our district councillor, at the regular surgery he holds at Turberville Court on the first Saturday of each month from 9.30am to 10am.
We now hold a joint surgery as many of the issues raised cut across parish, district and county responsibilities and it makes sense for us to work together to address any issues that arise.
