This event is in aid of village hall funds, and the idea is that residents and anyone who would like to take part pays a £10 fee to set up a stall.

Stalls will be situated outside houses, around the green in front of the village hall, around the picturesque cobbled drive in front of the dairy ring and in the car park attached to the hall.

A map will be published showing the situation of all the stalls.

  • RAGAMUFFINS pre-school was awarded a top level (level 1) in a recent quality improvement audit by the local authority's early years team.

This means that the early years team identified its setting as being highly effective in offering high quality early learning and childcare, and reported that the children were engrossed and engaged at all times during their visit.

Ragamuffins would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and level of commitment show by staff, parents and trustees in helping to make this happen.

If you would like to have a brochure about Ragamuffins, or would like to register your child for September, please contact manager Debbie Greatorex on 01929 472125.

  • Visits are always welcome, and the pre-school is open from 8am until 5pm during term time.
  • SCOUTS s, cubs and beavers, several leaders and parents from Bere Regis scout group joined other scout groups from the district on a day trip to Brownsea Island.

Everyone had a great time visiting the site of the first ever scout camp held by the founder of scouting - Lord Baden Powell - on August 1, 1907.

Cubs have been busy this term helping the community.

They recently planted several dozen small trees and shrubs on ground beside the scout hut.

This was arranged by Nikki, our Young Leader, with the help of Mike and Tony, who dug the holes!

Cubs also had a productive evening, litter-picking around the river. They managed to fill the wheelie-bin with the litter they found – everything from crisp bags and coke cans to old shoes and umbrellas. Our star collector was George, just up from Beavers, who collected the most enormous bagful of junk with his mum! Well done everyone!

Cubs have an ongoing challenge to collect plastic milk bottle tops, which go to raise funds for the Air Ambulance, and also used postage stamps, which are passed on to an animal charity for horses.

Any donations of tops or stamps can be dropped off at the Scout Hut.

Scouts have a link with a small charity supporting poor children in India.

At a recent meeting the scouts painted designs on t-shirts which will be sent out to the children in India later in the year.

Designs ranged from flowers to elephants and other animals, many designs drew inspiration from the decorated letter the Indian children write to the scouts.

The scout group continues to collect Tesco and Sainsburys vouchers.

Please help us again this year by collecting these.

Contact Christine Whitfield on 01929 472159 if you have vouchers you would like to donate to the scouts.
