  • FOLLOWING concerns expressed to the parish council about reckless driving in residential areas, particularly the C6 route from the village to Wool through Rye Hill, the council proposes to make representation to Dorset county council about possible safety measures, including double white lines to slow traffic down.

If you have experienced any dangerous or unsettling incidents from traffic which threaten safety, please let the council know.

Any thoughts on what might reduce the risks to you and your families - including changes to road signs, traffic calming and extending reduced speed restrictions will be welcomed.

  • A VILLAGE forum is planned on Saturday, September 18 at the Drax hall.

The parish council will be hosting this, and will be creating an open forum at which any parishioner scan air thoughts on the parish.

All village organisations will be invited to display and advertise themselves as a backdrop to the meeting.

There will be no agenda for the meeting which will be chaired by the parish council.

This will be a listening exercise enabling all parishioners to express ideas and problems.

  • A BIG village sale takes place around Briantspuddle, Affpuddle and Turnerspuddle on Sunday, July 25 from 10am until 4pm.

Stalls will be outside residents' homes, and also around the communal areas on the two greens in the centre of Briantspuddle.

There will also be fantastic cakes, plants, jams and preserve stalls.

Puddletown

  • AFTER years of planning, form filling and fund raising, the work on the church tower was due to begin on June 21 and is expected to take 22 weeks to complete, finishing on November 22.

While the scaffolding is in place, it is likely to block the west pathways, and a temporary path will be made from the west gate off church path.

The bells will not be rung during this period as the vibration could cause damage to the work in progress.

Work will be carried out Monday to Friday, but weddings and funerals during the week will take place, but without the bells.

The hands of the clock will be disconnected and the clock faces protected during work.
