  • SPY KIDZ special agent holiday club at the congregational chapel has taken on a mission impossible to defeat the evil Mr Megabyte who has released a deadly virus into the computers of all the children on Planet Earth.

The mission given to hero James Pond, his nutty assistant Jonny Neutron and the team of Spy Kidz is to disable the virus and deal with the evil Megabyte.

Pastor Jim sees this as a modern-day parable illustrating God's rescue package of love to release a world from the virus of sin.

There were four mornings of fast moving programmes of music, audio-visual presentations, drama, puppets and craft work for children aged from four to twelve during the week of the holiday club, concluding with a special service on Sunday morning.

  • YOUNG Farmers leader Bridget Legg reports:

We have had a full programme this year with many visits and talks, the latest was a visit to Peppers By Post at West Bexington where we learnt about the Dorset Nader chilli pepper.

We were to taught some morris dancing by Buttons Morris Dancers who kindly gave a demonstration and who were extremely patient with those who have two left feet!

We also entered a float entitled Summer Time in Puddletown carnival and won first prize.

Well done to all those who contributed.

We don’t hold any meetings during August as many members are busy with the harvest or on holiday.

The first meeting of the new year will be Monday, September 6 at 7.30pm at St. Mary’s Middle School.

A business and information evening prior to our annual general meeting will be held on Monday, September 13 at school starting at 7.30pm where we will elect a new committee for the forthcoming year.

Future programme events will include a traditional barn dance being held on Saturday, October 9 at St. Mary’s Middle School from 7.30pm until midnight.

This includes a ploughman’s supper.

The dance music and caller is the band Black Sheep.
