Puddletown

  • HANK Wangford and Brad Breath came to St Mary's Middle School to give a splendid evening's entertainment to a large audience of all ages, many of whom had seen these talented performers before.

Hank has a surprising alter ego as Dr Samual Hutt, a family planning doctor for the NHS, who has also spent a lot of time in Romania helping to set up a family planning infrastructure.

These two charming singers ended the evening by thanking everyone for making St Mary's school feel like home for them, and extended special thanks to Sue Chamberlain, staff and organisers.

  • FLU clinics have started at the surgery.

If you are aged over 65, or suffer from a chronic illness such as asthma, diabetes or coronary heart disease, you are strongly advised to have a flue vaccination - and a pneumococcal vaccine if you have not had one of these before.

The dates and times of the clinics are available in leaflet form, available at reception, and are also on the website www.puddletownsurgery.co.uk, latest news.

These are open clinics, and no appointment is needed.

  • A PACT meeting in Briantspuddle village hall was attended by around 20 residents.

Parking on the crossroads was the hot topic.

Double parking was brought up and the problem school buses or larger vehicles including emergency services experienced if cars were parked inconsiderately making it very difficult to pass through the village.

Speeding was dealt with through positive action from the SNT by way of speed checks at the relevant times.

Finally the main pot hole in the road which was causing most concern had been filled in.

Items brought up and subsequently made PACT priorities:- * Emergency vehicle access through Briantspuddle.

This will be tackled by way of a joint letter to all the residents from the Parish Council and the SNT asking residents to be mindful of where they park on the road.

* Dog fouling.

It was mentioned there is a lack of NO DOG FOULING signage in the village.

* Tractors speeding through the village.

The SNT have in their possession several signs indicating tractors to slow down.

* Dog intimidation in Sares Wood.

The dogs belong to the travellers and are very intimidating.

Although they are on chains they are still within reach of the footpath and able to reach dog walkers, runners and cyclists.
