Affpuddle

  • FATHER Christmas stopped by at Briantspuddle village hall to greet an enthusiastic queue of children all anxious to tell him what they would like for Christmas.

A magnificent grotto had been built for him to sit in and receive his guests.

Numerous stalls represented village organisations and also charities at the Christmas fair, and mulled wine and mince pies were served

Around £70 was made for village hall funds.

  • THERE is currently a vacancy for a parish councillor and the vacancy is open to any parish resident who is over the age of 18.

The parish council works to identify issues which are important to the lives of residents and to help bring improvements to the local area.

If anyone is interested in being a member of the parish council, please contact Anthony Braine, the clerk, on 07887 594072 or at anthony@abraine.wanadoo.co.uk for further information.

At the October meeting of the parish council, members continued to be surprised and frustrated by the reluctance of county council officers to consider a Stop sign at Waddock Cross and renewed road markings at Hurst Bridge, particularly in light of a recent accident at Hurst Bridge.

A list of minor road maintenance tasks were drawn up for the next visit of the county council’s parish maintenance unit.

If residents have any particular minor road maintenance issues please report these to the parish clerk or a parish councillor.

Members were pleased to note that the travellers had now left the Sares Wood site following an injunction taken out by the sites owners

Full minutes of the meeting and agendas will be on the parish website.

For more information, look at www.briantspuddle.info

The parish clerk is Anthony Braine, telephone 07887 594072, and the chairman is Nick Gore 01305 848130 Puddletown

  • CHRIS Mckenna reports

The Shoegloriousshoes fundraiser held at Rodhill communal hall raised the fantastic sum of £210 for Lupus research.

I'd like to thank everybody who came along & supported the event and gave their generous time and money to a very worthy cause.

Special thanks to my rock Christopher, who was the consummate barman on the night and who all agreed, made a very good Pimms!

Thank you also to Hilary and Ann who travelled from Yorkshire to support the event.

Raising funds towards research and heighten awareness of Lupus is always the goal.

Grateful thanks to everyone who contributed in any way.

  • AN EXCITING time has been had by the toddler music group as it now has two mini steel pan drums to play with, thanks to the Thomas Williams Educational Foundation who kindly funded these new instruments.

Even the youngest members of the group have been able to get a good sound from them

The group has a nativity play on Friday, December 10 when the children may dress up and friends and relatives may come.

The year will end with a Christmas party on Friday, December 17, and will start again on Friday, January 7, 10am until noon.

The cost is just £2.50 per family per session.
