MOST of us have lots of items cluttering up our cupboards that we rarely, if ever, use.

There's an opportunity for you to have a clear out on Friday, August 27 from 9.30am to midday at the Memorial Hall in Victoria Avenue.

The council recycling department is inviting you to bring all sorts of unwanted but useable items to a 'give or take' day, where you can clear space in your home for yourself and perhaps find something really useful to take home free of charge.

Kitchenware, tools, home entertainment, DVDs, books, toys, bikes, bric-a-brac, clothes, household linen and even small furniture are all acceptable but not electrical items.

Drop your goods off at the hall anytime between 9am and 11am and choose from the items there.

There will be people present who will be able to provide advice on household waste reduction, recycling, composting and other methods of reducing the huge amounts of waste we send to landfill.

Light refreshments will be available at a small charge.
