Beetle drive raises £352

THE beetle drive in aid of Cancer Research was great fun and raised £352.42.

The hall was filled with the sounds of rolling dice, excited shouts of "Beetle!" and the lively banter of people enjoying themselves.

The only hush was when the fish and chip supper arrived from Dorchester.

• ON THE previous evening, Saturday May 3, starting at 7.30pm, the Wolfeton Singers will perform in St. Christopher's.

Tickets cost £5 to include refreshments and are available at Winfrith Post Office.

The Parish News received a letter of thanks from a parishioner thanking for the beauty and peace of the cemetery in the village and how well looked after it is.

It is nice to hear that it is appreciated and certainly it is a lovely place, full of wild flowers.

• ST CHRISTOPHER'S Church has a new disabled loo as well improved access to the church with a new entrance.

The Rt Revd Timothy Thornton, Bishop Tim, will coming to a special service on Sunday, May 4 at 11am to bless the recently completed improvements.

Everyone is welcome to come to the service with light refreshments being served afterwards and maybe a chance to use the new facilities.

• KITTY and Joyce put out a stall every now and again in the High Street selling goods to raise funds for Cancer Research and recently had the opportunity to be inside at a coffee morning arranged to introduce the Age Concern Wayfinder service.

Lots of local people came to enjoy some refreshments and find out details of how to make life a bit easier when you are older.

Wayfinders have a huge list of contacts and information to help older people find out about most things you can think of.

Your local Wayfinder (that's me!) can give you information, or can put you in touch with someone who can help.

• ANOTHER coffee morning introducing the Wayfinder Service was held at Hyde Place in Wool.

Purbeck District Council were there as well giving out energy advice saving tips and free low energy light bulbs and we were all entertained by The Lulworth Story teller, Dave Knight, who told us a tale of love as requested by one of the ladies present.

His story made us laugh and also made you think a bit - would you really like to be young again?

• THE Country Market in Wool on a Thursday morning in the D'Urbeville Hall is extending its hours starting at 9am until 11.30am each Thursday morning.

Come along for freshly grown produce and homemade cakes, pies, jams and chutneys.

There is a great selection of plants for sale together with handicrafts.
