Andrea Stroud has run in three London Marathons, as well as holding several popular chocoholic parties in aid of this worthy cause, and her oldest son Joshua has held a table top sale at scouts and a cake sale at All Saints school in recent years.
The family’s 2009 bag packing session at Asda’s in the pre-Christmas shopping frenzy added over £250.
Not content with the amount he had formerly raised in school by a sponsored silence, 12 year old Jacob Stroud bravely decided to enter this year’s Christmas Day harbour swim in Weymouth, accompanied by his dad Ken.
Despite finding it ‘really, really cold’ after the first few seconds, he persevered to the finish and even says he would do it again.
Together with his father (who says he’s never been so cold in his life before) Jacob’s swim has raised a further £200 plus towards the present family total of over £7000.
If you would like to add a donation the web site will remain open for some time yet and all gifts would be very gratefully received.

The performances went very well. The first half of the programme was a selection of seasonal songs which included some humorous items, notably one expressing the donkey’s view of a baby being placed in his feeding trough: ‘Doesn’t anybody care there’s a baby in my dinner?’ The choir members then all dressed up in Tyrolean style costumes for a themed second half featuring German and Austrian music.
Their high standard has been consistently maintained and they still stage their programme of regular perfomances.
This is despite not having found a permanent replacement conductor for former conductor Valerie Byrd who still kindly travels over to take up the baton for the choir’s concerts whilst their search continues for a permanent successor for her.
If anyone can help please telephone 01305 774223.
All are welcome to join in the Christingle procession at the service.
