The Yetties are coming
2:01pm Wednesday 20th January 2010
- THE Yetties are returning by popular demand to perform a concert at St Edmund’s Church Hall on Saturday, February 13, starting at 7.30pm. They will present an evening of Dorset songs together
with Dorset humour and guarantee you a good time with plenty of laughs and the opportunity to sing along with some of the more familiar songs. 120 people came last year, many of whom come to this
event every year. It is therefore advisable to book tickets well in advance. These are priced £7.50 and can be reserved by telephoning 01305 785811 or 01305 750836.
- THE equally popular Collegium Regale, whose previous three concerts here have been a complete sell out, will be back to sing in a concert at All Saints’ Church,
Wyke Regis at 7.30pm on Thursday, April 15. Tickets can be booked by telephoning 01305 750836 or 01305 785811.
- WEYMOUTH and Portland Partnership are trying a new form of “open studio / public consultation” for the artistic element of the Newstead Road bridge. The
bridge will connect two presently disconnected sections of the Rodwell Trail and is part of the Sustrans Connect2 scheme and the DCC 2012 Transport Package.
Bruce Williams, the artist appointed to the project, will hold this “open studio” at Beechcroft St Paul’s Primary School from February 1 to February 5. The artist will be available to talk to
anyone interested in the project each afternoon until 6pm. There will be work to see from pupils at Holy Trinity Primary school, All Saints Secondary School, Beechcroft St Paul’s Primary School and
students from Weymouth College, all of whom have been working with or had contact with the artist. Also on display will be the latest information on the new community facilities planned for the new
Fire Station in Radipole Lane.
- STIRRED by the terrible plight of the earthquake victims in Haiti, members of Lanehouse Rocks Methodist Church, Lynch Lane are holding a coffee morning at the church on Wednesday, January 27,
from 10.30am till noon. There will be a raffle and bring and buy. Coffee and biscuit will be available for £1 per person. All money raised will be donated to the Rotary appeal and will go towards a
Shelter box. For further information contact Angela on 01305 771352.
- THERE will be an open meeting of the organising committee for Westham Community Group' s Active Westham on Tuesday, February 2. Anyone who has a child between the ages of eight and 16 who
thinks they may be interested in participating in this scheme should try to come along between 7pm and 8pm to find out what is being planned and register their interest if they wish to be kept
informed about events. There is an emphasis on the word ‘activity’ this year, but there will also be the usual mix of day trips on offer. The meeting will be held in the Dorset Close community
room.
