• WESTHAM community group staged a special presentation evening for the troupe of young majorettes who supported the Westham community group float in Weymouth carnival this year.

Every girl was presented with a certificate and pin badge by Rotary representative Roger Hogbin.

Unfortunately this majorette troupe doesn't have anyone to lead them at the moment and the girls are looking for someone new to restart the troupe.

This person would not necessarily have to be from Westham as many of the girls in the troupe come from outside the area.

Anyone interested in taking up this position is asked to contact Ryan Hope on 07887999187.

A vast amount of previous experience is not necessary as help and support is available for anyone wanting to have a go at keeping the troupe together.

  • THERE was a huge response to the appeal for help with clearing up the graveyard at All Saints Wyke. The organisers were overwhelmed by the show of support from everyone who turned up for the Saturday working party earlier this month and by the amount achieved.

They greatly appreciate the way the graveyard has been totally transformed by everyone’s stirling efforts and hard work. The church is also grateful to the council’s parks department who had already undertaken some of the work needing to be done.

Members of the church say: ‘It has not only transformed the space into something that looks brighter and cared for, but it has opened up a view of the rear of the church which should help reduce our vulnerability and improve security. So a big thank you to everyone who came along and helped. We really do appreciate it.’
