• AUTUMN has seen a full return to leisure interests at Wyke Regis WI. Owning their well-appointed hall in Gallwey Road, members are able to take part in a range of weekly activities which include keep fit, singing, table tennis and handicrafts.

In October the rambling group took an evening walk in Abbotsbury Gardens, enjoying the lighting displays. A talk on 'The Sale of Burton Bradstock' by Elizabeth Buckler Gale entertained members at their monthly meeting. The Book Club members have recently read 'Blood River' by Tim Butcher and will be reading Jennifer Worth's 'Call the Midwife' in November. The Autumn Fair takes place on November 18 and will include the now renowned Wyke Regis WI home-made Winter Warmers lunch. Founded in 1923 the Wyke Regis WI is proud to be part of the community of Wyke Regis.

The Wyke Regis WI Singers will be presenting their popular Christmas Concerts in the hall in Gallwey Road on Tuesday, December 14 and Wednesday, December 15, at 7.30 pm. Tickets cost £2.50 and can be ordered by telephoning 01305 774223. These are often sold out early so it’s advisable not to leave it too late.

  • THE newly formed Spirit of Wyke WI had a very enjoyable time at their inaugural meeting. 41 ladies turned up to find out what is planned for this modern lively group.

Future meetings will be held on the first Monday of every month at the Wyke Smugglers, Portland Road, at 7.30pm. Next month’s meeting will be held on December 6 and will be a Salsa evening.

  • THE first RINCON LATINO meeting held in Westham was a great success.

There were 20 people from different nationalities present, all speaking Spanish.

Everyone went home with a smile and promised to be at the next meeting to be held in the Methodist church hall, Milton Road, on Thursday, November 25, from 7 pm till 9 pm.
