TWO films are being made about Weymouth's Nothe Fort ready for the attraction's summer opening on May 1.
The films, which have been made possible using a Heritage Lottery grant, show why the fort was built and how it contributed to the defence of Portland and Weymouth harbours together with how the magazines were used to store and move ammunition to the guns during the Victorian era.
The films will be shown at the fort.
Work on conserving the structure of the fort has been completed, all current health and safety legislation has been met and staff are now focussing on two key elements for the 2008 season.
This will see steps taken to ensure the fort interacts more with the community and that many of its displays are upgraded.
The magazine area has been improved as have the displays relating to the school curriculum programme - The Evacuee Experience - which has been enjoyed by many thousands of schoolchildren from across the country.
Fort visitors will also benefit from new displays being put together and these include a nuclear bunker and communications room.
