O’Brien: Six points a must in home double

DORCHESTER Town defender Roy O'Brien reckons the Magpies are "more than capable" of winning their next two games.
The county town side will tackle Thurrock tomorrow at the Jewson Stadium before hosting Maidenhead United in a re-arranged fixture on Tuesday, and nothing less than six points will do.
Many onlookers have been highly critical of the relegation-threatened Magpies but O'Brien has been encouraged by recent performances and believes his side must continue to focus on the positives.
He said: "We have been going into every game wanting to win it and we know we need six points from the next two.
"We know all about Thurrock and Maidenhead and we will be going into both encounters with a positive attitude because we are more than capable of winning both of them.
"A lot of people will look at our results and just think they are rubbish' but our performances have been improving and we need to continue that."
Things were looking up for the Magpies on Saturday when they beat Basingstoke Town but all that came crashing down two days later in the form of a 1-0 loss at Weston-super-Mare. That defeat has left Shaun Brooks' men nine points adrift of Blue Square South survival.
O'Brien added: "I read somewhere that we supposedly lacked passion on Monday but I totally disagree with that. We battered them for the first 25 minutes but just could not score. In fact I think they had one shot in the whole game.
"We were just unlucky in front of goal but it does not matter what I say because people will probably just rubbish it off anyway."
When asked whether the Magpies will adopt a more attacking approach tomorrow, O'Brien said: "That is up to the Shaun and Paul Compton. The most important thing is that we stay in games for as long as possible because with the likes of Ivan Forbes and Jon Docker, we have the talent to open teams up."
Brooks will be without keeper Simon Evans tomorrow but the rest of his squad are expected to be fit and available for what is without doubt a crunch weekend in his side's battle to beat the drop.
The Magpies have only tasted victory five times in the league this season but despite such a turbulent campaign, O'Brien believes there is a lot of talent in the squad to build on in the future. He said: "I can tell you now, you won't get a more honest bunch of lads than we have got at the moment. You literally have to drag them off the training ground and over the past four to six weeks there has been a lot of positives we can take.
"People might refute that but I see the lads more than they do as a collective and there is no doubt there are some good players there."

The players should spend less time reading what other people write and think and get on with putting in a 100 per cent performance and two 100 per cent returns in the next four days. 5 wins doesn't suggest a successful training regime either
