Find out more about the marine life surrounding Portland's coast by joining in Sea Watch Foundation's National Whale And Dolphin Watch Week.

Anyone interested in these fascinating sea creatures can join trained observers at Portland Bill on Saturday, June 21 between 10am and 1pm and again on Sunday, June 29 between 3pm and 6pm.

Portland Ranger Lyn Cooch said: "People across the country will be watching and reporting sightings, the results of which will provide a snapshot of the distribution of whales, dolphins and porpoises around the British Isles and this will help to inform scientific debate on any change in the range and distribution of species."

While at Portland Bill, pop into the Tourist Information Centre to view the first guillemot and razorbill chicks which have hatched on the Bill's hidden seabird ledges.

Close-up live images from a camera on the cliffs show the seabird colony as eggs hatch and the chicks become more visible. Now is also the time to see the seabirds going off fishing, flying back to the cliff ledges and loafing on the water and, said Lyn: "You may even see a puffin."
