Station parkers should be paying more than us

2:39pm Wednesday 18th July 2001

Once again Croydon Council has shown its contempt for those in the most neglected parts of the borough.

The proposed new on-street parking charges mean that it would be cheaper to park in East Croydon Station car park for 30 minutes than it would be for 20 minutes in South Norwood or Thorton Heath.

Yet the more prosperous parts of Purley, Selsdon and Norbury all have cheaper short-term, on-street parking.

Is Croydon council trying to tell us something?
