The First Step
Having someone pass away in front of your eyes is enough to blow away the confidence of any person. With so much cancelled last year there was little part of me that was starting to wonder whether anything would go right. The came the Southern Indoor rowing championships and while it wasn’t perfect it was enough to give me the first step on the ladder to achieve my aims this year. It was consume my week from Wednesday 13th February to Sunday the 17th February when I finally dropped the van off. I can honestly say I was responsible for over six hundred people racing.

Sometimes when you’re backed into a corner and on your own you have to do things a little differently to get the attention you believe so passionately that your causes deserve.

Welcome!
Well another tough year to put behind me and yet another year to make a positive change. 2007 saw my mum develop cancer and subsequently die from it, I was on hand to deal with the fatal heart attack caused by it at home. However without that life had been tough enough, we had lost my father in 2003 and then one of my brothers died in later that year from a genetic condition called Haemachromatosis.

This year Gus Mckechnie is planning to raise thousands of pounds for charity by completing several gruelling physical endurance activities. The first two of which includes rowing five million metres by the start of the Olympic rowing regatta on the 9th August. The other is running the London marathon in April, doing the Ironman and cycling around Britain plus other events.
