In August 2007, Allan Davies and his wife Rose, having lived most of their lives in their beloved Dorset, gave up their careers, left behind friends, family, acquaintances and all that was familiar to start a new life in Southern Spain.
Yet another local bank holiday Fiesta looms, this time it's for one of the largest travelling animal circus still in existence. But I know what some will say? Oh, those poor animals, how could you go and see them being treated like that, they wouldn't be able to do that in England!'
The final habitational observations is that of the rose tinted glass, king of all you can survey, lord of the manor as far as the eye can see, Campo Finca!
Well, it had to end, one hundred and seventeen days without rain was brought to a close with one almighty crash as a tremendous storm hit Coin at 3AM last Wednesday morning bringing with it the first precipitation in nearly four months.
As the heading implies, living in Spain is no better or worse than living in England, it's just different, but to us it's that difference that counts!
There's a choice you make when you move to somewhere like Spain with regard to habitation. The myriad of relocation programmes show properties on the coast, inland townships and the campo.
Rain, gales, flooding, aahh, the typical British summer, who could live without or ever miss it? Well ME for a start! Don't know about you, but I love the idea of planning a BBQ four weeks in advance with some friends and not having to make a contingency plan for inclement conditions'. But there is unfortunately a possible drawback to experiencing a six month summer.
Ah, the joys and benefits of a long hot dry summer! It's day eighty of continuous sunshine and heat with no let up in sight. Bliss you say? Well, for some like me it's a welcome by product of living in a climate of only two seasons.

'Taking the moral high ground' is an expression so easily said and with a multitude of meanings. I learnt a long time ago to judge others only by how you yourself would want to be judged.
It's a strange coincidence that today, the 6th August, is to the day twelve months ago that we set off for a country anew and that today I write the final chapter pertaining to the build up and leaving of dear old Blighty.
