Get up extra early to enjoy dawn chorus at Radipole Lake, Weymouth

BEAUTIFUL SCENE: Radipole Lake BEAUTIFUL SCENE: Radipole Lake

THE early bird may get the worm, but the early naturalist gets to hear one of the most beautiful sounds at this time of year.

Starting at 4.30am on May 5, wardens at Radipole Lake in Weymouth will be leading a walk to allow people to listen to ‘the rhythm of the reeds’.

Reserve spokesman Luke Philips said: “Early morning is the best time to come and listen to spring birds’ song, as the reserve’s inhabitants start to wake up.

“Join us afterwards for a free breakfast and a chat about this early but wonderful start to the day.”

All are welcome to attend and the event, which finishes at 7am, costs £6 for non-RSPB members and £3 for members, with accompanied children free.

Booking is essential on 01305 778313.
