THREE striking images of a long-gone Weymouth were contributed to Looking Back by June and Eric Randall of Wyke Regis, Weymouth.

June found a Christmas card that belonged to her mother Mary Narraway depicting ‘St Nicholas Street Bridge’ (as it was then) around 1820. June, who came across the card by accident, said: “It’s amazing what you can find when you’re not looking for something.”

June and Eric also contributed an image of the High Street etched by Will Pye in 1909. The street, which had once been the heart of old Weymouth, suffered badly in air raids in the Second World War and some derelict properties were demolished in the 1950s. The rest fell to the bulldozer in 1961 and 1965 and the town’s Municipal Offices now fill much of the site.

Finally, an ancient photograph of Cove Row shows the harbourside as it was between Cove Street and Hope Street.
