RENOWNED open-air theatre company Illyria returns to Bridport tonight with one of Shakespeare’s most rousing plays.
At 7pm the performers will stage Henry V on the Millennium Green – although if the weather turns wet you can see the production in Bridport Arts Centre.
Henry V is Shakespeare’s most popular historical drama. Full of patriotism, pageantry and poetry, it tells the gripping story of an inexperienced king who leads a small and weakened army into the battle of Agincourt against the might of the French battalions.
With towering odds stacked against them the English win a sweeping victory.
But after such an extraordinary military conquest, how will Henry fare with the greatest challenge of all – the conquest of Princess Catherine’s heart?
Arts centre general manager Dee Fenton said: “Illyria’s performances are always a joy – polished and full of imagination. We look forward to the group returning to Bridport – whatever the weather.”
Tickets are available from Bridport Arts Centre’s box office priced £12 plus concessions and family rates.
