IF THE owners of this Dorset-based vineyard and winery toasted every success with a glass or two, they would probably have very sore heads in the morning.

For the Furleigh Estate has scooped a total of 10 silver and bronze medals for its still and sparkling wine in a variety of competitions, including the International Wine Challenge, the International Wine & Spirits Competition and the UK Vineyards Association competition.

Situated in West Dorset, this former dairy farm grows a variety of vines on its south-facing slopes, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes.

The newly award-winning wines include the sparkling Classic Cuvee 2009 and 2011, Blanc de Blanc 2009 and Classic Reserve 2010 and the still Sea Pink 2013, Bacchus 2013 and Bacchus Fume 2013, all of which won silver medals, and the Blanc de Noirs 2009 and 2010, which won bronze.

Rebecca Hansford, owner of Furleigh Estate said: “We are really proud to have won awards for every wine that we entered into the competitions, and particularly pleased that three of our still wines; Sea Pink 2013, Bacchus 2013 and Bacchus Fume 2013 were awarded silver medals.”

The estate is now looking ahead to entering its wine into the Effervescents du Monde®, in which the best quality sparkling wines in the world compete.

The winners will be drawn in October.

Furleigh Estate is open to the public for tours and tastings every Friday and Saturday and every Thursday in August.
