TO celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight, which kicks off today, we round up the best Fairtrade tipples which are a good deal for everyone.

Tilimuqui Fairtrade Single Vineyard Torrontés 2010/11 £5.59 until March 20, Waitrose

A gorgeously juicy and perfumed torrontés which is rapidly becoming Argentina’s next big grape variety after malbec. Grown in the Famatina Valley in the La Rioja region (not to be confused with Spain’s Rioja) and showing lovely fragrant and lychee aromas which then lead into fresh and fruity flavours and a subtlety peppery finish. Lovely with grilled pork or Thai salads.

Six Hats Fairtrade Chenin Blanc 2011 £7.99 M&S

A chenin blanc from grapes sourced and handpicked predominantly from the Fairtrade vineyards in the Piekenierskloof region of South Africa. The wine is completely unoaked allowing the pure orchard and tropical fruit flavours to sing. Made by Citrusdal wines, named after a small agricultural town and which is now a collaborative partnership which includes a number of Fairtrade farmers.

Fairhills Fairtrade Shiraz/Pinotage 2011 £5.39 until March 20 Waitrose

Hailing from the Western Cape comes this richly fruited blend of shiraz and South Africa’s trump card – Pinotage. The wine comes from the Fairhills project, a Fairtrade-accredited co-operative, which makes a huge difference to hundreds of workers and their families in South Africa. Match this strawberry and black cherry red with shepherd’s pie or a peppered grilled steak.

Canelo Fairtrade Cabernet Carmenere 2009 Canelo Fairtrade Sauvignon Blanc 2010 £6.99 (buy any 6 bottles save 25 per cent on total until March 4) M&S

Made by Chilean winery Viñedos Los Roble who work in conjunction with Fairtrade producer Viña Caupolican. This association is made up by 15 small grape producers and their families.

Viñedos Los Roble provide the producers upfront with prices that cover their costs of sustainable production as well an additional Fairtrade Premium, which can be invested in projects to enhance social, economic and environmental development, giving the workers better life conditions.

M&S offer two Fairtrade offerings from Canelo, one is a fragrant and zesty sauvignon blanc and the other, which also gets the nod, is a red-fruit filled blend of cabernet sauvignon and Carmenere.
